Pooch Resort Boarding & Daycare (not to be confused with Pooch’s Palace), is located right off Main Street in Hurricane, down past Whitt’s Farm Supply if you’re headed to Route 60. Pooch Resort was a vision that owner Karey Counts had for quite some time, and has made a reality with the help of her son, James Vanoy. Her vision was made possible when she had the opportunity to acquire her building in the City of Hurricane, and with a little bit of love and care, that building was turned into Pooch Resort. The rest is history! People have been trusting then with their fur babies ever since. After about a year of daycare and boarding, grooming was added to Karey’s services and the business doubled. Pooch Resort continues to grow with new customers in the area, and they couldn’t be more pleased.
It’s very important to the staff at Pooch Resort that their customers know how seriously they take the safety and comfort of the animals they’re entrusted with. James said “our facility is equipped with a top notch alarm system, two camera systems, fully monitored fire alarm system, cleanable wall and floor surfaces throughout the whole building, full height boarding rooms for all dogs, and multiple HVAC systems to ensure a comfortable temperature for all their guests. Pooch Resort is a business that never shuts down; it runs 24/7. The dogs must be let out to use the restroom and be fed, no matter what the circumstances may be.” James also pointed out that their wonderful employees are how Pooch Resort is able to do what they do. He recognizes it takes a whole team to maintain a facility like this. Their employees clearly love what they do, because they show up for work each day with a great attitude and a smile.
When asked what a typical day is like at Pooch Resort, James answered “loud!” Their guests are easy to please, and are always happy and playful, but not surprisingly, there’s always someone who is hungry or needing more attention than they’re getting and therefore, there’s lots of barking. He said there’s never a moment when they’re not running around trying to please everyone.
If you’re looking for a reliable boarder you can trust, doggy daycare facility, or groomer, these people are absolutely wonderful! Please keep them in mind!
