FamilyCare started out providing women’s health services in the existing Women’s Health & Birth Center located in Hurricane, West Virginia. We offer birth center births for healthy, low risk women who want a more personalized and family-friendly birth experience. If a patient delivers at our Birth Center, they are attended by one of FamilyCare’s Certified Nurse-Midwives. We also have OB/GYN Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and a Family Physician that complete the team. While we offer births at our Birth Center, we also attend births at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital in Charleston.
FamilyCare offers many programs that benefit the patients, like the 340B Affordable Prescription Program and Care Management. The Federal 340B Drug Pricing Program allows us to purchase medications at discounted prices. We then provide those medications at discounted prices to our patients at local pharmacies. Our Care Management program is a voluntary program that coordinates care for those with chronic conditions. The program consists of coordination of health care benefits of medical conditions with primary care providers, education to increase knowledge of the condition, connections to resources available in the community, and promotes a healthier lifestyle.
We also have three Certified Application Counselors who provide free assistance for applying for Medicaid or low-cost health insurance. They are available at any time, but will definitely be busy as the Marketplace Open Enrollment period takes place from November 1 to December 15, 2018.
