Saturday on Meeks Mountain Trails at the Hurricane City Park, there is a wonderful opportunity to support our local Marine Corps League and local veterans, not to mention get outside and to enjoy the warm, sunny weather.  This trail event is a tribute to local hero, Cpl. Williams B. Fulks, who on May 1, 2006 was wounded while conducting combat operations in Iraq by a blast inflicting second and third degree burns along with massive internal injuries.  Cpl. Fulks succumbed to his injuries on May 18, 2006-just three days after his 23rd birthday.  The proceeds from this race will support this local Marine Corps League Detachment in its pursuit to serve veterans of our community. For more information on this event, visit the City of Hurricane’s Facebook page

After you get your exercise on the trails, you can relax and kick back at the Pop-Up Concert Saturday at the gazebo in downtown Hurricane.  Dale Harper & The Highlanders will be there rocking it out from 6-8pm.  Be sure to bring a chair, and remember there are plenty of wonderful restaurants down that way, so plan to support our local dining establishments in that area for dinner!

Make it a great weekend, Putnam County!
