The heat of July is always a good excuse to find new sweets or cold treats to cool off your summer days. Drive around town this weekend to find your new favorite food from Putnam County!

Sweet Mama’s is our Business of the Month for July and boy, do they deserve it! Their bakery offers all the sweet AND savory food favorites for West Virginians. You’ll no doubt find some pepperoni rolls fresh out of the pan and yummy goodies like jumbo cookies or cake bombs inside their store. Rumor has it they also have peanut butter pie brownies again! Their storefront is located at 3524B Teays Valley Road, in the same plaza as Whiskey Taco. Sweet Mama’s is closed Sunday-Monday, but pop into their store Tuesday-Friday from 9am-6pm and Saturday’s from 9am-4pm. And be sure to follow their Facebook page to stay updated on their items for sale or to place an order!

Another favorite bakery of Putnam County residents is Valley Cakes & Café, located in Valley Park. They offer unique lunch and dinner specials that change daily, all made with local ingredients! Some of the menu items from earlier this week included antipasto salad, chicken alfredo with breadsticks and a garden salad, and their southwest chicken wrap. You can also contact them for any of your wedding or birthday cake needs, as they offer a wide selection of decorating options. Be sure to stop by Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-5pm and give their Facebook a follow.

However, if you’re in the mood for a savory meal with an ice cold drink (alcoholic options available, if you’re of-age), then visiting Bubbarino’s Bites & Bubbles is a must this weekend! This business is local (just how we like it) and a recent addition to the Chamber of Commerce, so be sure to show your support. They offer all kinds of pub food, such as pizzas, wings, and burgers, as well as a wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails; the full menu can be found on their website or Facebook page! The restaurant is located right beside Warnick and Semder Dentistry on Teays Valley Road. They’re open late, so come by 11am-9pm on Sunday and Tuesday-Thursday or 11am-11pm on Friday and Saturday.

Be sure to satisfy your cravings this weekend, Putnam County!
