It’s a big weekend for the Poca Dots! The Poca Fall Festival (formerly known as Heritage Day) is scheduled for Saturday. Expect music, food, inflatables, vendors and much more. Be sure to get there in plenty of time for the parade, which begins at 11:00am. If you have any questions about the event, call Poca Town Hall at 304-755-5482.

The All Horse Parade also takes place this weekend in Buffalo and the roundtrip parade route is from Buffalo Gazebo Park. The live auction benefits Hospice Care and the $10 entry fee to be in the parade goes directly to that cause.  Auction starts at noon at Buffalo Gazebo Park and there will also be a food truck to enjoy! Questions? Call Bill Whittington at 304-268-0269.

Come join Andy of the Zoology Zone Science Center Saturday afternoon on a nature hike for people of all ages through Meeks Mountain to learn all about how to interact with nature in a hands-on, immersive experience that will be sure to invoke a love of all things outdoors. Please keep in mind this is approximately a three mile hike.  Meet at the Big Red Barn at the Hurricane City Park a few minutes before 3:00. Andy also has a couple other events Saturday including a snake and tortoise show, so visit his Facebook page see his schedule.

Wind down Saturday by grabbing a few friends and heading to the Pallet Bar for an awesome evening of live music with Nae Paugh starting at 7:30 p.m.  The Pallet Bar has a huge selection of craft beer and also awesome food, including a great Cuban sandwich!

Gritt’s Fun Farm is in full force and they are having a great season so far up in Buffalo! Bring the kiddos and complete the NEW “Farmieland Corn Maze Challenge!” Plan to have lunch from Gritt’s food truck while you’re there and visit the brand new Corn Barn. Remember the small corn bin the kids loved to play in? They upgraded hugely, and no you can experience THOUSANDS of pounds of shelled corn in a 32×68’ pool, plus it’s located indoors with seating options so you can enjoy watching the little ones play. Also be aware that Gritt’s Fun Farm is a CASH ONLY operation this year due to ongoing internet issues. They still recommend purchasing tickets online to save $2.00 per ticket vs. paying at the gate & to expedite the check-in process.

Make it a great weekend, Putnam County!
