Sergio Lugo-Mata opened Guadalajara Modern Mexican, a modern Mexican fusion restaurant, in his hometown of Nitro in 2021. He started this venture with no formal training in hospitality management, except for growing up in a family whose passion was the restaurant industry. A year later, he opened Sergio’s Cucina Italiana & Steaks in Hurricane, and the people of #PutnamWV are loving it! While there is a huge variety of Italian food at this cozy restaurant on Main Street in downtown Hurricane, the kitchen focuses mostly on steaks at this location.

One of the most popular appetizers at Sergio’s are the chicken alfredo fries, which have a thick coating of masa batter on them to prevent them from getting soggy. Another popular item customers love to smother their entrees with is the rosa sauce, a creamy blend of the marinara and alfredo sauces, creating a rich flavor of buttery, cheesy, tomato goodness for your pasta.

And at Sergio’s, they don’t just like to eat, they like to party! Sergio’s, partnered with The Cat’s Meow Entertainment, hosts Trivia Night every Wednesday at 7pm with a variety of fun themes such as movies, sports, a variety of TV shows…not to mention great drink specials. It’s always a fun way to break up the middle of the week!
