Well the first thing that’s happening is a big cool down, so get out your jackets, Putnam County! Once you get bundled up though, get out there and enjoy all the wonderful things that are Happening This Weekend!
Saturday at Valley Park, the brave men and women of Putnam County are being celebrated at First Responder Appreciation Day! Join us for a fun day of celebrating Putnam County’s first responders with free food, inflatables, and prizes. This event will run from 10:00am-3:00pm. Contact Debbie Deweese for more information at 304-881-3726.
This weekend will be perfect for being out and about at yard sales, and the Town of Eleanor is having their town-wide yard sale beginning Thursday and going through Saturday. There is no set time for this event, but as always with yard sales, the earlier you get there the better chance you have of getting the best treasures! Please be respectful of the residents of Eleanor when parking in neighborhoods this weekend, as not to block driveways and hold up traffic.
Also happening in Eleanor, on Saturday Goodwill will have their mobile unit set up at the Putnam County Fairgrounds to collect donations. If you love the Putnam County Fair, be sure to support them by dropping off items into the mobile donation station. At the conclusion of the drive, Goodwill will weigh the donations and give the Putnam County Fair a portion of their estimated cash value!
Check out Andy’s schedule on the Zoology Zone Science Center page on Facebook. He always has fun activities going on, often involving giant tortoises and other scaley creatures, over at Valley Park in his new location there! Andy is also asking Putnam County residents to bring their own decorated pumpkin of any size (but not carved) to the Zoology Zone to be displayed the entire month of October. Guests will vote on their favorite pumpkin the week of October 21 and the winner will be announced on the 28th at the giant Halloween event at the Zoology Zone & Science Center.
Make it a great weekend, Putnam County!
