There’s always so much to do on weekends in #PutnamWV and this one is no exception!
Start your weekend early and on the right foot by immersing yourself in a secluded piece of Putnam County’s natural landscape at the Walter Nature Park on Wilkie Road in Red House. Fitness Friday is hosted by the Putnam County Library and will consist of a 1-mile hike through the woods beginning at 10am. You’ll want to wear bug spray and proper footwear, but the trail is easy and full of native trees and other wildlife – perfect for families!
Food Truck Friday in Hurricane is back at it this week with tacos, pepperoni rolls, funnel cakes, comfort food, and so much more on the menus with three trucks to choose from! We hope to see you at Hurricane City Park between 11am and 2pm to enjoy lunch at these food trucks.
Friday is Adult Swim Night at Waves of Fun! Admission is $8 and tube rental is an additional $2. Swimsuits are required and no alcohol is permitted. Grab your friends (18 and over) and get ready for an evening of fun from 7:30-9:30pm. The waves will be on as normal!
The Putnam Farmers Market meets every Saturday morning through the end of September at Area 34 from 9:00am-1:00pm. Come support these farmers and vendors who will be selling vegetables, baked goods, crafts, and more. It’s hard to leave empty-handed!
Moxie Fitness is offering a Summer Patio Session Saturday morning at 8:00am. Start your Saturday the Moxie way! Grab your friends, bring your family and a pair of sunglasses and kick off your weekend with a fun and energizing workout in the fresh air. Expect good music, great people, and a little sweat!
It’s time for July’s Farm to Table Dinner at Gritt’s Farm. This event promises to be an unforgettable evening at the farm featuring dinner and live music that celebrates some of the best flavors of summer. Check out the full menu at grittsfarm.com. As a teaser, Chef Stephen Owens will be preparing a four-course meal that will include grilled pork chops and potato puree with Dijon cream sauce, fried squash, and peach cobbler for dessert. Tickets can be purchased on the website.
The stars are aligning over Putnam County as West Virginia’s Shakespeare troupe, The Rustic Mechanicals, prepares to take the stage at Valley Park in Hurricane, WV. Saturday at 7:00pm at Valley Park, the ensemble will present a free performance of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. This production promises a hilarious, fast-paced exploration of courtship, wit, and the battle of the sexes, reimagined for a modern outdoor audience. The performance is open to the public with no admission fee. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics to enjoy a full evening of professional theatre in the park. The show is suitable for all ages, making it a perfect summer outing for families and Shakespeare enthusiasts alike.
