Finish your week strong #PutnamWV! It’s Fitness Friday with the Putnam County Library at Meeks Mountain Trail. Let’s hit the trail together! Meet at the big steps at the back of Hurricane City Park at 10am as we decide which trail to take. Don’t worry, we’ll be sure to make it friendly for all abilities and skill levels!

Get hooked in on the action at the Nitro Catfish Tournament on Friday at Ridenour Lake. Sign-up begins at 4:30 pm at the lake’s gazebo and the fishing will take place from 6 pm to 11 pm. Prizes will be awarded for the highest total weight of best five fish. $15 to enter (kids under 12 can fish for free) and fishing license is required. If your heart says autumn but the thermometer makes it feel like July will never end, Waves of Fun has got you covered! We can’t fix the heat but you can enjoy a little preview of October with spooky vibes at Waves of Fun Summerween. The event takes place Friday evening. Doors open at 8:00 so you can enjoy games and concessions; movie starts at 9:00. This event is 16 years and older only and entry fee is $10. What’s your favorite thing about the Putnam County Fair? The carnival rides? The food? If you haven’t made it yet this week (or if you have but want to go again!), there are tons of fun activities happening this final weekend of the fair! Friday, enjoy the Motorcross Races, and don’t miss your opportunity to bid at the Annual Livestock Auction. Saturday is the Mud Run, plus ice cream-eating contest, comedy show, and light-up-the-night fireworks display, which is the perfect way to top off another fantastic Putnam County Fair season!

This Saturday morning (and every Saturday morning through the end of September!) the vendors of the Putnam Farmer’s Market will be set up selling their produce, baked goods, crafts, and more at Area 34 from 9:00-1:00. This is a fun atmosphere with great energy and it’s almost impossible to walk away empty-handed! See you there!
